Who Will Pay?
Hurricane Katrina is on the rampage. Extreme damage in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Many people, who were told to evacuate, are being rescued from their cars, houses, and business’s.
With the exception of the name Katrina, or the names of the states, you see this headline at least once, if not several times a year.
What all these areas have in common are that they are directly on a river, lake, gulf, bay or ocean. Most if not all of these areas suffer damage nearly every year.
Since these are high risk areas, the people that want homeowners insurance must purchase it from the Federal Government. The policies start as low as $80.00 in low risk areas.
The most amazing part of this insurance is that you can get it and retain it no matter how many times you are flooded and submit claims. Yes, the rates increase, but obviously are nowhere close to the payouts.
In addition, these people also qualify for FEMA Disaster Relief aid. That is food, water, shelter, medical aid, police, National Guard.
Time for a Common Sense wake up call.
I am aware that many of these communities are hundreds of years old. I am also aware that new construction has been permitted to continue. Refineries, Chemical Plants Warehouses, Oil Rigs are built directly on the rivers.
WAKE UP PEOPLE! Everyone in the United States is paying to keep people living in areas that are continuously destroyed. FEMA’s funds come out of your pockets. Red Cross money comes from your donations. National Guard money comes out of your pockets.
Stop all rebuilding in flood zones. Stop all new construction, in those areas. Do not allow construction of any manufactured house, including mobile homes. Move all volatile chemical plants far inland
This includes resorts on the Atlantic coast, Gulf shores, and Texas coast.
It is patently ridiculous that we continue to pay for the largest Pork Barrel projects that have ever been seen.
Write to your Congress Critters, and say “No More Money for Stupidity”.
