Indicted majority leader steps down

Indicted majority leader steps down
Tom DeLay says he will fight the charge.

Rep. Tom DeLay says he will step aside as House majority leader after a Texas grand jury indicted him on a conspiracy charge, accusing him and two others of improperly funneling corporate donations to a political action committee for Republican candidates. DeLay emphatically denied the charge saying: I have done nothing unlawful.”

During the Clinton administration, Republicans spent millions of tax payer dollars to investigate ‘ZipperGate’.
In an obvious cost saving measure, the Democrats have agreed to let George Bush investigate himself for failures in Iraq, and more recently, in the south due to his admission of responsibility for the failures of FEMA and Homeland Security during the Hurricanes.
In another ‘not so’ surprising move, recently resigned FEMA head, Mike Brown, has been rehired by FEMA to investigate what went wrong, while he was in charge.
Just think of how much money we are saving by letting the Fox’s, live in the Henhouse.

Wonder where Bush and Company are going to get the money to pay for the Hurricane damage?

$225 billion cut from Medicaid, the last-resort health insurance program for the very poor.

$200 billion cut from Medicare, the health care safety net for the elderly and the disabled.

$25 billion cut from the Centers for Disease Control

$6.7 billion cut from school lunches for poor children

$7.5 billion cut from programs to fight global AIDS

$5.5 billion to eliminate all funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting
$3.6 billion cut to eliminate the National Endowments for the Arts and Humanities

$8.5 billion cut to eliminate all subsidized loans to graduate students.

$2.5 billion cut from Amtrak

$2.5 billion to eliminate the Hydrogen Fuel Initiative

$417 million cut to eliminate the Minority Business Development Agency

$4.8 billion cut to eliminate all funding for the Safe and Drug-Free schools program

Bad Moon Rising

Here I am, watching yet another disaster occurring on television again. My sympathy goes out to those who have lost or are losing everything they own; just to live in areas that some people would consider to be paradise. Unfortunately, these ‘paradise’ places are either on islands, coastlines, or below sea level. And, let’s not forget earthquake zones, and volcanos.

What I am also seeing are all the news articles on the number of Republican leaders that are being indicted for financial dealings that make White Water look like a Jerry Lewis Telethon. So, where are the Democrats? Where’s Clark, Kerry, or Clinton?

I know of at least 3 large peace rallies are being held on Saturday, the 24th. The largest, which is also pushing for impeachment, will be in Washington, DC.
None of the upper staff members of the Democratic Party will be at this or any of the other rallies. I would also bet that Big Al Franken, or any of his staff, won’t be there either.
So…..who will be? Well, Cindy Sheehan, thousands of people who have nothing more than a single vote, in a rigged election, people who can’t afford to have their own talk radio shows, people who can’t afford to miss work, and people who can’t afford to buy gas to travel there.
Do you think that you’ll recognize anyone arrested for protesting? Do you care?

The answer to all these questions are no. You are as disillusioned as most of those people are. The difference is you are probably still sending money to your favorite political party. These people can’t. They are paying, with their feet, sweat, and voices.
Get over it, folks. Stop sending money, and pick your ass’s up and put some sweat equity into your bitching.
So, to Big Al, and the rest of you comfy, cozy radio folks, turn off you’re mikes, and turn up the heat.

Round and Round We Go

Filed under: God? Are You There?

Here we go again.
As a Non-Practicing Born Again Christian I have to throw in my 2 cents on the latest round of ‘God Talk’.
Going into Iraq, all you heard from Bush was God told me to do this, God told me to do that. He continues to use Gods name when he talks about disasters, why they happen, who they happen to, and what he’s doing to correct the problems.
Then you have the Falwell’s and Robertsons that blame the disasters on God, by bringing up the subject of sin in New Orleans, despite the fact that as many people, if not more were displaced in Mississippi, and Alabama, with less aid from Fema and the Red Cross. And, they wouldn’t be considered ‘sin city’.
But, it’s OK to advocate the assassination of foreign leaders in public, and thus becoming sinners themselves.
Then, we have the uproar over evolution versus creationism, the word ‘God’ in the pledge, and soon to come, the use of the word ‘God’ on money.

If anyone really thinks that Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, then this is it, folks.
People have screwed up so bad, in the name of God, and continue to, that it’s no wonder all this shit is going on.
Hurricanes, Tornados, huge increases in poverty, disease, soon to come West Coast Earthquakes, and the possibility that Ann Coulter, is really a woman. Personally, that’s the worst disaster, of them all.
Maybe, we can get her to move to LA. But then, that would have to be ‘God’s Will’, now wouldn’t it?

Oh My Aching Head!

Filed under: Insane in the Brain

It never fails to amaze me at how hard, seemingly intelligent people manage to do things, that are so totally, unbelievably stupid, that your head hurts, just thinking about it.

A case in point is New Orleans. Here’s a city that has gone through total hell, in the last 3 weeks. Authorities fought tooth and nail, once they got off their dead asses, to evacuate the entire city. As always, there were some holdouts, many of whom are currently dead.
The Mayor was screaming that FEMA and the Fed’s should get buses in there to get people out.
Now, 3 weeks have passed, most of the city is still under water. The areas that are dry are full of disease, mold, and unsafe structures. Of course, the French Quarter has always been that way, but that’s another story.
So, what does the screaming Mayor do? Encourage people to return to the city. Now, remember the first paragraph. Read it again if you need to. I’ll wait.

Good. You’re back.

Hurricane season is just really beginning, and sure enough, another storm is blowing through the Key’s, looking like it could swing North West.
For youse, without a sense of direction, that would be the same spot Katrina hit.

So, I guess, in a few day’s, were going to hear all those intelligent people (!?!) asking for help evacuating people…..again. And, that’s just the beginning. There are thousands of volunteers and military in the area now. This will, of course, provide yet another photo op for our dear President to roll up his shirt sleeves, and cut some more brush, in Crawford.

God help those poor people. But, that’s what happens to Red States, or so I’ve heard.

Heh Heh

It’s a Family Affair

John Ellis Bush, the youngest son of Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, was arrested early Friday and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest, law enforcement officials in Texas said.

The 21-year-old nephew of President Bush was arrested by the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission at 2:30 a.m. Friday on a corner of Austin’s Sixth Street bar district, said spokesman Roger Wade.

John Ellis Bush was released on $2,500 bond for resisting arrest, and on a personal recognizance bond for the public intoxication charge, officials said.
