Handmade bombs slow push against insurgents

Meanwhile, Arabic-language news network Al-Arabiya reported that Saddam Hussein’s former deputy, Izzat Ibrahim al-Douri, has died.
Let me see if I have this right. We invade a country. We overthrow their government. We kill AND torture their citizens, and we are SURPRISED that they are defending their homeland?
