As a supposed ‘Liberal’, I have a series of weird thoughts when it comes to issues such as Religion, Abortion, and the Death Penalty.
One thing that is missing from our society is accountability. It seems that as a whole, we seem to strive to allow justification for all the things that we have been told, or taught, that are contrary to what has been established as the ‘Rules of Society’.
And, this is not only for us, but for others as well.
For example.
We house people in prisons who have murdered others, paying for their upkeep, their education, and then are shocked and appalled when the time comes, to put them to death.
We find joy, in tobacco companies being sued for the cancers caused in consumers of their products, even though most people, who have been told of the health risks, continue to smoke, generally, right up until the day they die. Yet billions of dollars paid in health benefits go to try and keep these same people alive, while they continue to smoke.
So, where’s the responsibility, or accountability?
We, as Liberals are screaming for Bush to be held accountable (including yours truly) yet we are allowing people who kill, to live in comfort, drug or alcohol abusers being supported as victims.
Is it any wonder that people continue to kill?
Is it any wonder drugs and alcohol are abused?
Is it any wonder people continue to smoke?
There is no deterrent, or reason to stop anything. Our thoughts are pay me, and I’ll stop. Lock me up, and I’ll stop. Its societies fault.
Yeah? We’ll we are all society.
