I first want to say that I give a lot of credit to volunteers who travel around the world helping 3rd world countries with their HIV problems, and their lack of clean water and food. The same compliment goes to those in the Peace Corps or Americorps, whatever they happened to be called today.
Thank You!
However, for an industrialized nation, such as the United States, to have any form of HIV problems, any water or hunger problem is ridiculous. In addition to that the regions that were hit by the last hurricane 6 months ago have yet to be rebuilt.
Volunteerism is an admirable trait. But, with the same problems existing in our own home country, that are being treated in 3rd world countries it would seem to me that the energy of volunteerism would be better used here in our own country.
The problem here is that we expect that the government is responsible to take care of all these problems. A similar standard is not applied to the rest of the world, oddly enough, when we see disasters in their countries. An argument can be made that those people have corrupt governments who care little for their citizens.
If not for a couple of pieces of old, dried paper written in 1775 so would go the US.
People honestly don’t know or refuse to believe just how close the United States is to becoming a 3rd world country. We have a very small industrial base.
Our dept load to other countries is $8,261,371,110,075.92 as of today.
Our largest export is fast food. And those are owned by people in those countries.
HIV is rampant here, the drug trade is huge, the homeless rate is growing daily as soldiers return from Iraq, poisoned by Depleted Uranium Munitions, or minds gone from seeing innocents being killed. Seniors are forgoing their med’s to keep their houses and have money to pay for heat, and food. Many shoplift and eat their pets food to stay alive.
People, this isn’t the life we were promised.
The government can’t or won’t help.
Give the time that you would give to other countries to your own first. Helping others for the reason that it will keep the problems from coming here, is the social equivalent to George Bush saying that we need to take the war to the terrorists, so that they don’t come here. And we know how well that’s working so far.

What will a depression look like?
The government has been preparing the people of this country to absorb the cost of a massive failure in our current economy, as opposed to industry which was hurt by the Crash of ’29.
Some of these preparations have included a tightening of the bankruptcy laws, making it nearly impossible to have credit card or loan dept forgiven.
Legislation as also been passed to eliminate what would normally be called frivolous lawsuits against corporations for faulty products, or actions.
Massive credits have been recently given oil companies, and others to prevent an interruption in supply, again.
What will a depression look like?
One of the first indicators will be the bankruptcy of Ford and General Motors. This will in turn effect the few remaining auto manufactures in the US. Expect to see the overseas makers, such as Toyota, Nissan, and Hyundai to close their plants.
Fuel shortages will occur as Venezuela will have cut off exports of oil, which in effect will cripple any industry dealing with shipping, medicines, or plastics.
Those with adjustable Mortgages, credit cards, or loans will be homeless. There is no longer any consumer protection from these.
Due to transportation and monetary problems, you will finally get your wish and lose Wal-Mart, but, they will attempt to hang in there far longer than any other local companies.
Due to transportation costs, the Airlines will close, the resorts will close, and restaurants will cease to exist. Imports of fresh fruits, coffee, and items from China will cease.
The government will refuse to subsidize vegetable, dairy and tobacco farmers, thus driving them into sizing their crops down for their own needs. Same with the prices of meats, poultry and any other products that depend on transportation needs. Those who live near farms will survive. Those in cities will not.
Do you think that this is an extreme estimate?
If so, I think that you better have a look at the current economic indicators. These are unemployment, interest rates, faith in the current government, and war.
Starting with Vietnam we have learned that War no longer is an economic boom for our industry. A prime example of this is that even the simplest of military clothing items such as the Army’s berets, are made in China. We are even purchasing ammunition from Israel and some of the former Soviet States.
Trust me; this is the lowest, possible estimate of a depression. There will not be any WPA, no CCC. Social Security and Medicare will cease.
As it has been said, the Ports are just the beginning. When the other nations call in the notes on the money, that this country has borrowed, we’ll be lucky to have anything.

(02-25) 16:36 PST Los Angeles (AP) –
Don Knotts, who kept generations of TV audiences laughing as bumbling Deputy Barney Fife on “The Andy Griffith Show” and would-be swinger landlord Ralph Furley on “Three’s Company,” has died. He was 81.

George has had a bad week. Oh, it started out alright. He came out swinging at the Congress. Seems he heard that they were going to fight his efforts to allow a Dubai company to take control of 6 major east coast ports. This after it was pointed out that at least 2 of the 911 hijackers were from there.
Thats pretty much when his week got weird. The White House staff and then George himself came out and said that this whole episode had been worked out behind his back, without his knowledge. Of course, this bit of info came out after he raised hell about a Veto of that very bill.
Poor George.

DamSpot is back in the saddle. Turns out that not everything thats looks like cancer turns out that way.
I just want my friends of the Bush Administration to know that I’m going to be a Cancer on your ass’s from now until the day you all are wearing Orange Jumpsuits.
February 17, 2006
Old DamSpot is having a few medical procedures done over the next couple of weeks, and will be posting some what erratically.
When I feel like crap, even the worst of Bush & Co. can’t drag me to the keyboard.
But, I’ll still be watching.

I used to pride myself on my ability to make a story up and see just how many people that I could convince, that it was true.
I was watching the news from Delaware and they show a picture of a man walking up and down his driveway showing the camera man where he has been finding WW2 Grenades. Real, live Grenades.
Turns out that crushed oyster/clam shells are used as a cheap paving material near the beach.
The company that dredges for these items has run across an old, unmarked military munitions dump, in the Ocean. In addition to grenades, over 100 other people have found Mustard Gas Canisters, artillary shells, rockets, you name it in their driveways. The military has been quick to point out that since these munititions have been submerged so long, they are harmless.
Tell that to the 2 guy’s at the Dover Air Base who attempted to difuse a Mustard Gas Shell. They have blisters, on their arms the size of footballs.
The company is now going to install metal detectors on their boats to try and catch them before they go to the crusher.
Now, you see what I mean. I couldn’t even begin to imagine this, let alone make it up.

I’ve been watching all these protests against the Danish the last couple of weeks. The Danes practice freedom of speech and the press much like the US.
The Muslims complain that their religion does not allow for the beliefs in those freedoms.
SO MOVE!
Yeah, you’ve always heard the saying that if you don’t like it here, move, Well…….why not?
Go to the countries where your religious freedoms are appriciated.
Don’t burn the embasseys. Don’t march in the streets. Go to a country where you are wanted.
How Friggin’ simple is that?

The Battle of Athens, Tennessee
As Recently As 1946, American Citizens Were
Forced To Take Up Arms As A Last Resort
Against Corrupt Government Officials.
Published in Guns & Ammo October 1995, pp. 50-51
On August 1-2, 1946, some Americans, brutalized by their county government,
used armed force as a last resort to overturn it. These Americans wanted
honest open elections. For years they had asked for state or federal
election monitors to prevent vote fraud (forged ballots, secret ballot
counts and intimidation by armed sheriff’s deputies) by the local political
boss. They got no help.
These Americans’ absolute refusal to knuckle under had been hardened by
service in World War II. Having fought to free other countries from
murderous regimes, they rejected vicious abuse by their county government.
These Americans had a choice. Their state’s Constitution — Article 1,
Section 26 — recorded their right to keep and bear arms for the common
defense. Few “gun control” laws had been enacted.
