It appears that another hurricane may be headed for New Orleans, similar to Katrina a few years ago. As of this writing, evacuations have begun and hopefully will run a bit smoother than the last time.
After Katrina, it was this writers opinion that instead of spending millions to repair the levies and the destroyed neighborhoods, that they tear the town down, fill in the hole with fill, so that the city would, at last be above the river level, thus reducing hurricane damage.
But being the stubborn, historic minded people that inhabit New Orleans, this will never happen. They would rather continue to suffer the consequences of an inadequate system of levies and pumps than rebuild elsewhere and eliminate the problem all together.
I know that it is hard to just up and leave a place where generations of your family lived and where you grew up. I myself, have been through 2 hurricanes. But there is a time, when you must face facts and stop asking the federal government to continue to pay you to live in a sub-standard flood zone. After all, as much as the people of the US love Mardi Gra every year, I believe they would rather save their tax dollars for something more worth while than bailing out a bunch of stubborn people.

It’s That Time Once Again
2008.
Sure got here fast.
Why it seems only yesterday that George Bush started screwing up.
I just want all my neo-con friends, who all deny ever liking Bush, at this point, you can kiss my shiny, red ass!!!
In 1990 I told everyone who would listen that Bush was going to screw the pooch.
Did I like Clinton? No. But, he didn’t screw the pooch like Bush, just other woman.
No body but Diebold knows how the election will come out, but I’ll be pissing and moaning along with everyone else.
