Brittani-An Update

General NewsSome of you will remember our niece Brittani, who was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma when she was 15. Brittani underwent chemotherapy to kill off the cancer, which worked. Unfortunately, the chemo also killed off her lungs. Brittani had a double lung transplant in May 2007 to correct this.

For the first year after the surgery, things went fairly well. She went diabetic, then not diabetic, then back to being diabetic, which she remains. For most of the year following her recovery, Brittani got to act like a normal kid, albeit an extra careful one, since her immune system is suppressed by the anti-rejection drugs she must take.

But in the past few months, she has started to lose lung function.

There is no sign of organ rejection, no infection…and no answers.

So the doctors want to perform an open chest biopsy of her lungs, to see if they can discover why her lung function is decreasing.

Her insurance is about gone, due to reaching her “lifetime maximum benefits” - as a teenager.

And the medication, constant doctor visits, travel and missed work, and a ton of other stuff has left Brittani’s parents in dire financial need.

We have come here today to ask for your help. We are drowning, and once the insurance is gone, it is only going to get worse.

We don’t know what is going to happen to Brittani without your help. All we know is that family wide we have exhausted every conceivable financial tool available to us to help her.

We’ve asked corporations, both large and small, that we do business with on a regular basis, for help, and have received…none. What government assistance is available has been exhausted as well, and there is nothing left there, either.

So please help Brittani. Please donate to Brittani here.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you would like to know more about Brittani, her condition, and our efforts to help her, you can click here.

Cindy & Dan

PS - Brittani got to graduate with her class last month. She wants to go to college now - she’s decided she wants to become a nurse…

Dear John

Dear John McCain,
Didn’t Bush whop your ass one time before? Aren’t you the same man who daily spews rhetoric about how we have to stay in Iraq, and then stand there, in your commercial and tell the world that you hate war?
Are you not the man who talks trash about your opponent, Barack Obama for no good reason on the leftest talk shows and CNN?

Folks, it is time we had a man in the White House that hasn’t been a deserter or liar about their war experience. We need a man who is young and fairly inexperienced in politics, and not beholden to AIPAC or any of the other ‘Good old boy” networks.

Personally, I don’t give a flying shit what color the person in charge is. What I do care about is that they don’t tie up the legislature with talk of all the scandals they have been in, and frankly, that’s all we’ve had over the last 16 years.
Lets get the frigging government back in the business of taking care of us, the people of the United States instead of paying other countries to be our friends, the whole time they are pissing on us.

Screaming article headlines:
FDA cracks down on ‘cancer cures’
Yeah? What about 147 or more people sick from eating tomatoes. Or those that got hepatitis a few years ago eating green onions, or how many beef recalls have there been this year?

If someone has cancer, and has no money, are they going to go to the Cancer Institute that charges around $5000 a day, or are they going to try Laetrile, pills or some other unauthorized treatment that they can afford?

And, what about our food system. Every week something else is recalled, either in food, or on toys, in pet food, Vegan foods.
Then, the supermarkets now sell all these organic foods and vegetables/fruits. Where do you think they are grown?
They are grown on the same farms that used to use DDT, poison fertilizers, and cow dung, full of hormones. You can’t just wish those things away when you grow organic. You might not be using anything, but for 10 generations before you they were.

Yes, our lovely EPA, Homeland Security, And the FDA. Don’t you feel so much safer now?

MIA

Ol’ DamSpot has been MIA for awhile. Got another operation done to try and survive long enough to see George Bush run out of office.
Gas prices are going through the roof as well as food prices.
One thing I don’t see the candidates doing is assuring us that there is a way out of this mess.
McCain figures the war is going to drag on. Hillary…..she’s a total wash, and I’m seriously keeping my fingers crossed that Obama makes it, as he has a lot of big people pissed off, and that’s good. Just hope he lives long enough to see the victory. He wouldn’t be the first one that crossed the Clintons or Israel and was found dead.

Dear Barack

Dear Mr Obama,
You are coming into the final lap of the race for President and there are a few things you need to work harder on.
Stay away from 3rd rail politics like Social Security And Health Care issues. Focus your energy on the illegal war and what you would propose to put a speedy end to our involvement. That will automatically free up money for future programs after you are elected.
Stay away from talking about bailing out the people who willingly gambled on the housing market and lost. Same with the lending institutions and credit card companies. They weren’t ignorant, just greedy.
Talk to the companies who are in the process of or already have outsourced. Make it feasible to do business in the US as opposed to China, and Mexico by reading the next sentence.
Encourage more people to get out and work, while assuring a raise in the minimum wage. The biggest squawkers will not be the small guy’s, but those who have outsourced. Use that as a hammer to bring their manufacturing back here.
Ask the oil companies that if they are using their excess profits to do exploration, then why isn’t there an oil drill working in every back yard in this nation.
Stay away from discussing Hillary. Right now, she has a huge rock around her neck and sinking fast. Every time you mention her name, that rock will get lighter. Let her sink herself.
On the other hand, a few pointed jabs at McCain won’t hurt. A discussion about how he first hated Bush and then decided to flip flop on just about every program after that will ’swift boat’ him for sure. There is no defense for flip flop.
Speak to the military. Get out on the bases and meet the soldiers, especially the marines. For some reason they feel that the Republicans are next to God when it comes to budgets. Assure them that any soldier who returns from Iraq or any other country, will be given a job protecting the borders here in America. Right now they are not concerned about the budget as much as getting their butts blown off. But, given down time, their eyes will focus on that ‘Democratic gutting’ of the military budget. If you must reduce the budget, apply the difference to the VA and out patient services for returning Vets. This will put you over the top with the military.

All I can add, is, so far, you are as clean as a virgin when it comes to politics. People will listen and believe. Don’t screw it up with weird rhetoric that is so famous in the world of politics.
Listen to ‘ol DamSpot. Trust me. I’ve seen ‘em come and go. And they all made the above mistakes. Don’t speak for the PAC’s, speak for and to the people.

Dear United States

I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy.
I have stood with my hand over my heart for the flag.
I have had a tear in my eye for those who have died for me.
I have prayed that those that lead my country know what’s best.

I went to the schools and was taught that we were the greatest country.
I was taught that our judicial system was fair to everyone. And I should never worry.
I was taught that I was free, when others were not.
And, I was taught that our constitution would protect me forever.

Now, I am an adult and disillusioned.
I may be considered to be an enemy of the state.
When I look at the flag, the red stands for blood and the white for bandages.
I have run out of tears, for those who die have died in vain.
I no longer pray as I’ve seen the leaders of my country fail.

The schools have changed history by teaching our children that we’ve never done anything wrong.
Our judicial system makes its decisions based on the Presidents whims, and I should be worried.
I am no longer free as my phone is tapped, emails read, and cameras are everywhere.
And the constitution, that would protect me, has been torn in half.

Yes, I am a Yankee Doodle Dandy, but now I am just another tired old song.

Stupid Is As Stupid Does

This little gem appeared in CNN today.
“A leading Democratic senator today cast doubt on the rationale for the “surge” of U.S. troops in Iraq. Recent violence in the country raises questions about both the military and political success of the strategy, said Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan.”

No shit, sherlock! What have we all been saying since the beginning? Since when, did it become obvious that when you gave the keys to this war to George Bush, that he would eventually drive it over a cliff?

The man has been a failure at EVERYTHING that he has ever done in his life.
They require background checks on people who go to work for Home Depot. Didn’t anyone bother to check how many businesses this idiot has ruined?

Why would you let a man, who drove an oil company out of business………AN OIL COMPANY, run a country?

That’s right. Sheeples! It was the sheeples who put him in there, and it’s the sheeples who handed him the Presidency and the keys.

Now, 7 years in, they want him to give back the keys to the wreck he caused.

Tell that to all the dead and wounded. Tell that to the homeless vets. Tell that to the vets with mental problems.

This administration, Republicans and Democrats are so screwed up that the only thing short of firing everyone of them, is for a coup to occur and reinstall a constitutional government.

Are You Really Ready?

When Tom Ridge was in charge of Homeland Security (Remember the color chart?) He encouraged people to purchase cases of bottled water, plastic sheeting and my favorite….Duct Tape.
This was a pretty funny list, considering that I grew up in the generation who thought that ducking under your school desk would save you from an Atomic Blast.

However, we do need to have a list pretty soon, unless you want to be eating at soup kitchens in another 6 months.

Do try to stock up on canned foods, but be warned that canned tomato products and mushrooms do not have a long shelf life.
Pick low acid foods that you cannot grow in your own gardens. High acid foods, such as many garden grown fruits can be home canned in jars.

As far as frozen foods, as long as you have electricity will work fine. Having a generator helps as long as you can get fuel, so it’s advisable, despite the current prices, to store gasoline in approved containers in locked sheds away from the house. How much is anyones guess.

Having a hand gun or rifle is also a good idea. Keep a few thousand rounds of ammunition separate from the weapon, but close enough if needed.

Having a large water garden (Pond) dug in your yard is a good source of water in an emergency. Boiling water in a pinch will work, and you can keep bass and trout as pets until needed.

Try and keep as little cash in a bank as you can. If a bank goes down at the same time as the government, the FDIC isn’t going to save your ass.

Get rid of credit cards. When all else fails, those bastards will still come after you for their money. Same with any mutual stocks.

Know your neighbors. Even in an apartment complex you can all help each other and repel any problems that may occur. Remember, homeless people, no matter what class they came from are going to be terribly desperate scrounging food, water and fuel. The suburbs are no safer no matter how far from the city you are.

And for God’s sake, watch your children. There are idiots out there who will steal them and use them for currency.

Trust me, if you think anything you read about 1929 is scary, you haven’t seen anything yet!

Thanks, George Bush.

I’ll say it again. The American people are a bunch of freekin’ Sheeples. Weak kneed, dunder headed pussies.

Anybody following that ass hole Bush around with a snipers scope? If not, you ain’t doing your job.

Vista Service Pack 1

Damspot doesn’t usually delve into Microsoft Software, though he does test it, and has used quite of few different OS’s he has to come out of the closet on this one.
Vista has been busted on and gutted by a bunch of White Boxers and turds who didn’t run the upgrade adviser before attempting to run Vista on the Win 2000 boxes. It’s almost a sure thing that most of the people running XP aren’t even equipped with the hardware necessary FOR VISTA

HEY DUMB ASS’S. RUN THE FREEKIN’ FREE ADVISER ON YOUR BOXES BEFORE BITCHING MICROSOFT OUT!
